At Shkolla e Gjelbër, we organized an inspiring activity with 6th and 7th grade students, marking a meaningful step toward building a generation that thinks critically and acts responsibly for the environment. Together, we established Green Clubs — a foundational initiative that empowers students to become active agents of sustainability within their school and community.
The activity focused on waste management and the creation of reusable products, encouraging students to see waste not as something to discard, but as a resource with potential value. Through teamwork and creative thinking, students transformed everyday materials into functional and artistic items that will remain as a green legacy of the school. This hands-on approach helps young people understand environmental responsibility not only as a concept, but as a practical skill they can apply in daily life.
Beyond creativity, the initiative strengthens students’ understanding of the circular economy and local climate action. By learning how to reduce waste, reuse materials, and rethink consumption patterns, students begin to recognize their role in protecting natural resources and reducing environmental impact. These early experiences are essential in shaping long-term behavioral change and fostering environmental stewardship.
This activity is part of the project “The Green Transition Starts with Youth”, implemented by Habitat with the support of the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC), in co-implementation with the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport and the Kosovar Youth Council (KYC).
Because lasting change begins in schools — in the hands of young people who believe in their creativity while keeping the planet in mind.
