The Green Transition Begins with Youth Workshop

On October 21, an informational session and the official launch of the campaign were held, featuring a lecture by Jeta Berisha, Executive Director of Habitat. The event marked the beginning of a broader initiative aimed at empowering young people to understand and actively contribute to the green transition in Kosovo.

During the session, participants were introduced to the environmental challenges facing today’s society and the urgent need for sustainable solutions. The lecture emphasized the role of youth as catalysts for change, highlighting how informed decisions, responsible consumption, and community engagement can significantly reduce environmental impact. Students and participants were encouraged to view sustainability not only as a global responsibility but also as a local and personal commitment.

The campaign focuses on strengthening environmental awareness, promoting sustainable practices, and fostering youth leadership in climate action. By creating spaces for dialogue, learning, and participation, the initiative aims to equip young people with the knowledge and skills needed to contribute to a greener and more resilient future. The session also highlighted the importance of integrating sustainability into everyday behavior, from waste reduction and energy efficiency to responsible resource use.

Beyond awareness, the campaign seeks to inspire long-term behavioral change by encouraging young people to take initiative within their schools and communities. Through educational activities, collaborative projects, and youth engagement, the initiative positions students as active contributors to environmental protection and sustainable development.

The campaign is implemented by Habitat, with the support of the Regional Cooperation Council (RCC), in co-implementation with the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sport and the Kosovar Youth Council (KYC).
By placing youth at the center of climate action, this initiative reinforces the belief that meaningful change begins with informed, empowered, and engaged generations.
